The short answer

What is Krillion PK Mode?

Krillion PK Mode is a head-to-head version of the Krillion answer game. Two friends enter one private room, receive the same sequence of prompts, and submit their answers independently. You are not trying to copy the other player. You are trying to make a better decision under the same clock.

The match turns a quiet trivia round into a shared experience. You can see whether your friend is moving faster, earning more accepted answers, or reaching a deeper score, while their actual answer stays hidden until the round is over. That creates the useful tension of a race without removing the knowledge and judgment at the center of Krillion.

Private challenge mode

Same prompts. Separate dives. One result.

The rules are easy to explain, but every round gives both players a meaningful choice: answer the obvious thing quickly, or spend a few seconds searching for a more specific answer that could take you deeper.

01

Create or join

Start a private room or enter a friend's eight-character room code. Share the invite link anywhere you already chat.

02

Race the route

Both players get the same prompts, with up to 25 seconds available for each answer. A correct answer is only the beginning.

03

Compare the depth

Score decides first. If the scores match, the faster total time takes the win. The result screen makes the comparison clear.

More than a score

Why play Krillion with a friend?

Krillion is already a game about the gap between a common answer and an uncommon accepted answer. PK mode adds a second layer: the person sitting on the other side of the room. You can be the faster player, the more accurate player, or the one who takes the better risks.

Speed

Race your reaction time

A friend can make a familiar prompt feel urgent. You have to read the category, retrieve an answer, type it cleanly, and submit before the clock closes. The live progress panel lets you feel the pace of the race.

Knowledge

See whose memory travels farther

The route can jump from food to animals, places, people, science, or culture. A broad knowledge base gives you more candidates, but the match shows whether you can use them at the right moment.

Judgment

Choose safe or surprising

The first answer in your head is often a crowded answer. Your friend may submit a rarer choice while you are still thinking. PK mode makes that risk visible and gives you a reason to develop your own approach.

Conversation

Turn the reveal into a story

The best part of a match is often the question after the question: "How did you think of that?" Compare accepted answers, surprising misses, speed, and depth instead of looking at a score with no context.

How the match is decided

Score first. Time breaks the tie.

Both players face the same ten-round route, but they do not need to answer at the same instant. Your score is calculated from the accepted rarity tier of each answer. A rarer accepted answer moves you farther down the Krillion chart than the obvious crowd pick.

Match factor What it means Why it matters
Accepted answer Your response matches an accepted answer for the prompt. It earns the tier score instead of zero.
Rarity tier Accepted answers can be shallow, rare, or deep. The tier controls how many points you earn.
Total score Your points are added across all ten prompts. The higher total wins the match.
Total time The accepted and submitted answer time across the route. It decides the winner when scores are level.
Important: Going deep is not the same as guessing wildly. A rare answer that is rejected scores nothing, so the strongest player balances originality with a clear fit.

A fair view of the race

What can you see during a PK match?

PK mode is designed to make the race feel live without revealing the answer your friend is still considering. Each player gets a private answer area and a shared view of the match state. That means you always know how the room is moving, but your next answer still has to come from you.

Your side of the match

Your panel shows the current prompt, remaining time, round number, submitted answer state, score, and depth. After each response, it also shows whether the answer was accepted and how many points the answer added. You can concentrate on the next decision instead of switching between pages.

Your friend's progress

The opponent panel shows whether your friend has joined, how many rounds they have completed, accepted answers, score, depth, and elapsed time. It does not show their current prompt or typed answer, so progress creates pressure without giving away the solution.

The shared route

Both players receive the same ten prompts in the same order. This matters because the result is not based on two unrelated trivia sets. You are comparing two different reactions to the same categories and the same opportunities to go deeper.

The final comparison

The result screen brings the match back to one readable comparison: your score, your friend's score, accepted answers, total time, and the winner. It gives both players something concrete to discuss before a rematch.

Pick your opponent

Who is Krillion PK Mode for?

You do not need to be a trivia expert to enjoy the format. PK mode works because players can win in different ways. One person may know more facts, another may recognize category boundaries faster, and another may make better decisions under pressure.

Friends who like friendly competition

Use a private room to turn a normal chat into a short challenge with a clear winner and an easy rematch.

Daily players who want a second layer

Play the official Daily Dive first, then use PK mode to compare how you and a friend approach similar prompts.

Players who want to practice out loud

After each round, explain why you chose an answer. The conversation helps you notice whether you play too safe or take too many unverified risks.

From link to rematch

How to start a Krillion PK match

You do not need an account or a long setup. One player creates a room, the second player joins, and the game waits until both people are ready. This makes PK mode useful for a quick break, a group chat challenge, or a friendly rematch after the daily game.

1

Open the PK lobby

Click Open PK Mode above. The lobby opens without taking you away from the guide.

2

Create a challenge room

The first player creates a private room and receives an eight-character room code plus an invite link.

3

Send the invitation

Copy the invite link or code and send it to a friend. Opening the link can take them directly to the matching room.

4

Ready up and dive

Both players tap the ready button. A short countdown starts the shared route and the live progress view.

5

Compare the result

When the route is complete, compare score, accepted answers, total time, and depth, then play again.

Simple strategies for a better PK score

PK mode is not only a test of who knows the most facts. It rewards a repeatable process that helps you find a valid, specific answer before the timer expires.

Read the boundary

Look at the exact wording before searching your memory. A category can be narrower than its first impression.

Keep two candidates

Hold a safe answer and a deeper possibility. Submit the unusual one only when you can defend that it fits.

Do not chase the opponent

The live panel shows progress, not their answer. Stay with your own process instead of guessing what they typed.

Protect your time

Thinking forever is its own kind of mistake. Give yourself a decision point and submit before the clock turns a good idea into zero.

Study the reveal

After the match, compare the accepted answer and tier. The reveal is where one round becomes useful practice for the next.

Play a rematch

One result can be luck. A second match shows whether your speed, confidence, and answer selection are actually improving.

FAQ

Krillion PK questions

How does Krillion PK mode work?

Two players enter the same private room and answer the same ten prompts independently. The player with the higher score wins; time is the tiebreaker when the score is level.

Can I see my opponent’s answers?

No. You can see the opponent’s progress, accepted count, score, depth, and elapsed time, but not their current prompt or answer.

How do I invite a friend?

Create a private room, copy the invite link or room code, and send it to your friend. Both players must tap ready before the countdown begins.

How many questions are in a PK match?

Each match contains the same ten prompts for both players. Every prompt has up to 25 seconds for an answer, so a complete match is short enough for a quick rematch.

How is a Krillion PK match won?

Accepted answers earn points according to their Krillion rarity tier. The higher score wins. If both players finish with the same score, the player with the lower total answer time wins.

Is Krillion PK mode the official Krillion game?

No. Krillion Game is an independent companion site. This PK experience is a free multiplayer mode built for this site, while the official live game and validator remain at krillion.io.

Do both players get the same prompts?

Yes. The room selects one shared ten-prompt route, and both players receive those prompts in the same order. Each player answers privately on their own side of the match.

Can I play Krillion PK mode on a phone?

Yes. The PK lobby, invite link, live progress panel, answer form, and result screen are designed to work on mobile and desktop browsers.
